As a TSDF, we are regulated by CAL-EPA (California Environmental Protection Agency) and DTSC (Department of Toxic Substance Control), and must comply with their strict standards. There are limits to the amount of materials we may handle; our processing procedures are monitored; and there are rules that govern our employee training programs.

Como una planta de TSDF, estamos regulados por CAL-EPA (Agencia de Protección de Medio Ambiente de California) y DTSC (Departamento de Control de Substancias Toxicas) y cumplimos con estrictas reglas. Who generates paint waste?

Everyone who uses paint. It's the homeowner who paints their house. It's the auto body shop that repaints your car. It's every manufacturing plant that paints their products before they're sold - everything from furniture to forklifts.

With so many necessary uses for paint, what can be done about the waste it generates? This is where PRRS can help. As a Transfer/Storage/Disposal Facility (TSDF), we provide our customers and local communities with programs and services for handling and processing waste through recycling.

For example, we reuse the recycled solvent to make paint. From the industrial
and automotive refinishing markets, we recycle leftover paint and use it in a supplemental fuel program for cement kilns. Even the metal from the empty paint cans is recycled. Clearly, we are unable to avoid all paint-related waste, but an active recycling program is the next best thing!

What does a TSDF mean to our neighborhood? We must first determine what type of TSDF it is. Every TSDF is licensed to accept only certain types of materials. In our case, PRRS is licensed to handle only paint-related waste materials, the very same types of materials we use.

Quien genera el desecho de pintura?

Todo aquel que utiliza pintura. El propietario que pinta su casa; el que repara y pinta su carro; tambien cada planta manufacturera que pinta sus productos antes de venderlos, todo desde muebles hasta una carretilla elevadora.

Con tantos usos necesarios de pintura, ¿Que se puede hacer con el desperdicio que se genera? Aqui es donde PRRS le puede ayudar: facilitando a sus clientes y comunidad local con programas, servicios y procesos de reciclaje. Por ejemplo, reutilizamos los solventes reciclados para hacer pintura. De los mercados industriales de reacabado y automotriz, reciclamos las sobras de pinturas vacios es reciclado. Claro que no podemos evitar todos los desechos relacionados con la pintura, pero un programa activo de reciclaje sería lo major.

¿Que significa tener una planta de TSDF (establecimiento de translado, almacenamiento y desecho) en nuestra comunidad? Primero, se identifica que tipo de TSDF es. Cada TSDF tiene licencia para recibir solamente algunos tipos de materiales. En nuestro caso, tenemos permiso para manejar unicamente desechos generados por pintura - los mismos materiales que utilizamos para la fabricacion de nuestros productos.

Ellis Paint Company

The year was 1887. Ellis Paint Company had just made its first gallon of paint. Since then, we have been in the business of manufacturing industrial paint for structural steel bridges, factory maintenance, and various types of equipment. In 1969, Bob Berg purchased the company from the Ellis family. Today, the company is run by his daughter , Sandy Berg. Like her father, Sandy is committed to manufacturing quality, compliant products and maintaining the highest standards in employee working conditions.

Desde entonces, hemos estado en el negocio de la manufactura de pintura industrial, para puentes de acero, mantenimiento en fabricas, y otros tipos de equipo. PCL

Pacific Coast Lacquer (PCL), a division of the Ellis Paint Company, serves the automotive refinishing industry by manufacturing and supplying coatings and solvents to auto body shops. 23 years ago, PCL recognized that our customers needed a better method to dispose of the solvent waste that was generated when cleaning their paint spraying equipment. PCL found the solution. Our research led to the development of a unique system that safely captures the body shop's contaminated solvents. That solvent is returned to the Ellis Paint plant and then recycled and reused in the manufacturing process. Out of this good idea, the PCL System was born. As an industry leader, PCL currently services 1,200 body shops in the Southern California area and recycles 350,000 gallons of solvent a year. We are proud to take this active role in developing and providing recycling solutions for our customers.

Hace 23 anos, PCL reconocio que sus clientes necesitaban un meior metodo para deshacerse de los desechos generados cuando limpiaban el equipo utilizadoo. PCL encontro la solucion Nuestra investigacion nos lIevo a desarrollar un sistema unico y seguro que captura los solventes contaminados. El solvente es regresado a la compania Ellis, reciclado, y usado en el proceso de manufactura. De esta buena idea surgio el sistema PCL. Como un lider industrial, PCL sirve actualmente a 1,200 talleres de pintura de automobiles en el sur de California, y recicla 350,000 galones de solvente al ano. Pacific Resource Recovery

From the PCL System comes the birth of our newest company, Pacific Resource Recovery Services (PRRS). 23 years ago we did not realize how important our recycling programs would become, not only to our customers, but to other businesses that generate paint-related waste. Today, our customers continue to face new issues concerning ways to minimize waste, education in employee safety, and the proper handling of hazardous waste and other hazardous materials. Pacific Resource Recovery Services was established to provide these services to businesses and communities alike. PRRS provides the programs necessary to educate and assist our customers on these key issues and more.

Ya establecido el sistema PCL, surgio una nueva compania que es: Pacific Resource Recovery Services (PRRS). Hace 23 anos, nunca hubieramos percatado la importancia de nuestro programa de reciclaje no solo para nuestros clientes, sino tambien para otros negocios que generan desechos quimicos de pintura. Hoy, nuestros clientes continuan encarando nuevos asuntos referente a como reducir al minimo la basura, la educación en seguridad del empleado, y el manejo apropiado de desechos peligrosos y de otros materials peligrosos. La compania PRRS fue establecida para proveer las siguientes servicios a los negocios y camunidades por igual: la diminucion de los desechos generados, la educacion sabre la seguridad del empleado en el area de trabaja, y el manejo apropiado de desechos y materiales quimicos.
